Dallas County reports 1,698 new cases of coronavirus, 22 deaths; Tarrant County adds 24 deaths

Dallas County reported 1,698 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, as well as an additional 22 deaths from COVID-19.

Sixteen of the last victims were Dallas residents: a man in his 40s, a man in his 50s, four men in his 60s, four men and a woman in his 70s, three men and a woman in her 80s and a man in his 90s. One of the men in their 60s, the woman and one of the men in their 80s and the man in their 90s lived in long-term care facilities. The man in his 40s and one of the men in his 60s were found dead in their homes.

The other victims were a Coppell woman in her 90s who lived in a long-term care facility, a DeSoto woman in her 80s, a Garland man in her 80s, an Irving woman in her 50s, a Mesquite woman in her house 70s and a Richardson man in his 70s who lived in a long-term care facility.

The Richardson man and the Dallas man in their 60s found dead at home had no underlying health conditions that would put them at greater risk for COVID-19 complications, officials said.

County Judge Clay Jenkins said in a written statement that although last week was the county’s most lethal pandemic, some important indicators are declining, including the average number of daily cases and the positive rate of tests at county hospitals. .

“These trends are encouraging and I hope these numbers continue to fall,” said Jenkins.

Of the new cases, 1,476 were confirmed and 222 were likely.

The new reported cases bring the county total to 248,518, including 219,515 confirmed cases and 29,003 probable cases. The death toll is 2,030.

Health officials use hospitalizations, intensive care admissions and visits to emergency rooms as key metrics to track the real-time impact of COVID-19 in the county. Due to a delay in weekend reports, this data will be available next Tuesday.

According to state data, 107,855 people in Dallas County received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while 19,490 are fully vaccinated.

Texas

Across the state, 6,319 more cases were reported on Monday, including 5,897 new cases and 422 older cases that were recently reported by laboratories.

The state also recorded 72 deaths from COVID-19, bringing its number to 34,394.

Of the new cases, 5,205 were confirmed and 692 were probable. Of the oldest cases, 319 were confirmed and 103 were likely.

The new notified cases bring the state total to 2,246,745, including 1,965,585 confirmed cases and 281,160 probable cases.

There are 12,785 COVID-19 patients in Texas hospitals, including 3,569 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. On Sunday, 21.8% of patients in the region of the hospital that covers the Dallas-Fort Worth area were patients with COVID-19 – above the 15% limit that the state has used to define high hospitalizations.

The seven-day average positivity rate across the state for molecular testing, based on the date of collection of the test sample, was 14.8% on Sunday. For antigen tests, the positivity rate for the same period was 9.5%. A molecular test is considered more accurate and is sometimes also called a PCR test; an antigen test is also called a rapid test. Governor Greg Abbott said a positivity rate above 10% is a cause for concern.

According to state data, 1,488,783 people in Texas received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while 265,786 are fully vaccinated.

Tarrant County

Tarrant County reported 1,260 coronavirus cases and 24 deaths on Monday.

Ten of the last victims were residents of Arlington: two men and a woman in her 50s, a woman in her 60s, a man in her 70s, a man and two women in her 80s and a man and woman with more than 90 years. Six more lived in North Richland Hills: two men in their 60s, two men and a woman in their 70s and a woman in their 90s.

The other victims were three men from Fort Worth, in their 50s, 60s and 70s; three Watauga residents, a man and two women over 90; a man from Haltom in his 80s; and a Hurst man in his 60s.

All but two had underlying high-risk health conditions, officials said.

Of the new cases, 1,061 were confirmed and 199 were likely.

New reported cases bring the county total to 208,325, including 180,135 confirmed cases and 28,190 probable cases. The death toll is 2,072.

According to the city, 1,287 people are hospitalized with the virus until Sunday.

According to state data, 85,716 people in Tarrant County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 8,383 are fully vaccinated.

Collin County

The state added 835 cases of coronavirus and two deaths to the total in Collin County on Monday.

No details about the latest victims were available.

Of the new cases, 775 were confirmed and 60 were likely.

The new reported cases bring the county total to 68,943, including 59,538 confirmed cases and 9,405 probable cases. The death toll is 533.

According to the municipality, 500 people are hospitalized with the virus.

According to state data, 41,035 people in Collin County received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 7,599 are fully vaccinated.

Denton County

Denton County reported 629 cases of coronavirus and 11 deaths on Monday.

Five of the latest victims were residents of Prestonwood Court in Plano: a woman in her 70s, a man over 80, and three women over 80. Four victims were residents of Denton: two men over 80, one of whom lived in Denton Anthology and two women over 80 who lived in the Good Samaritan Society Denton Village.

The other victims were a Flower Mound man in his 60s and a Lewisville man in his 80s who lived in Beehive Assisted Living.

New reported cases bring the county total to 50,439, including 30,347 confirmed cases and 10,092 probable cases. The death toll is 294.

According to the municipality, 170 people are hospitalized with the virus.

According to state data, 23,013 people in Denton County received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 4,180 are fully vaccinated.

Other counties

The Texas Department of Health Services has taken over the reports for these other northern Texas counties. In some counties, new data may not be reported every day.
