Dallas County adds 1,377 coronavirus cases, 13 deaths; Tarrant reports 19 more deaths

Dallas County reported 1,377 new cases of coronavirus on Sunday, as well as an additional 13 deaths from COVID-19.

The latest victims include nine Dallas residents: a woman in her 40s, a man in her 50s, two women and a man in her 60s, two men and a woman in her 70s and a man in her 80s .

The remaining victims were a Mesquite man in his 50s, a Garland man in his 60s, a woman in Balch Springs in his 70s and a man in Lancaster in his 70s.

All the victims were hospitalized and had underlying health problems, officials said.

Of the new cases, 1,311 were confirmed and 66 were likely.

New reported cases bring the county total to 234,625, including 207,640 confirmed cases and 26,985 probable cases. The death toll is 1,871.

Health officials use hospitalizations, intensive care admissions and visits to emergency rooms as key metrics to track the real-time impact of COVID-19 in the county. Due to a delay in weekend reports, this data will be available next Tuesday.

According to state data, 81,643 people in Dallas County received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 14,623 are fully immunized.

Texas

Across the state, an additional 18,034 cases were reported on Sunday, including 17,674 new cases and 360 older cases that were recently reported by laboratories.

The state also recorded 207 deaths from COVID-19, bringing the number of victims to 32,038.

Of the new cases, 15,667 were confirmed and 2,007 were probable. Of the oldest cases, 302 were confirmed and 58 were likely.

The new notified cases raise the state total to 2,115,594, including 1,853,521 confirmed cases and 262,073 probable cases.

There are 13,728 COVID-19 patients in Texas hospitals, including 3,907 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. On Saturday, 23.7% of patients in the region of the hospital that covers the Dallas-Fort Worth area were COVID-19 patients.

The seven-day average positivity rate across the state for molecular testing, based on the date of collection of the test specimen, was 16.24% on Saturday. For antigen tests, the positivity rate for the same period was 9.76%.

According to state data, 1,109,874 people in Texas received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while 166,934 are fully immunized.

Tarrant County

Tarrant County reported 1,611 cases of coronavirus and 19 deaths on Sunday.

Details of the latest victims were not immediately available.

Of the new cases, 1,343 were confirmed and 268 were likely.

The new reported cases bring the county total to 192,497, including 166,474 confirmed cases and 26,023 probable cases. The death toll is 1,852.

According to the city, 1,488 people are hospitalized with the virus until this Friday.

According to state data, 59,542 people in Tarrant County received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 5,600 are fully immunized.

Collin County

The state added 668 cases of coronavirus and five deaths to the total in Collin County on Sunday.

No details about the latest victims were available.

Of the new cases, 588 were confirmed and 80 were likely.

The new reported cases bring the county total to 63,239, including 54,797 confirmed cases and 8,442 probable cases. The death toll is 472.

According to the municipality, 512 people are hospitalized with the virus.

According to state data, 29,298 people in Collin County received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 3,997 are fully immunized.

Denton County

Denton County officials said they would not release new coronavirus data on Sundays.

On Saturday, the county had reported 46,272 cases, including 13,925 active and 32,098 in recovery. The death toll was 249.

Other counties

The Texas Department of Health Services has taken over the reports for these other northern Texas counties. In some counties, new data may not be reported every day.

  • Rockwall County: 8,222 cases (6,873 confirmed and 1,349 likely), 74 deaths.
  • Kaufman County: 11,450 cases (9,962 confirmed and 1,488 likely), 150 deaths.
  • Ellis County: 16,403 cases (14,457 confirmed and 1,946 likely), 199 deaths.
  • Johnson County: 14,435 cases (12,872 confirmed and 1,563 probable), 207 deaths.
