The The GameStop Corp saga. is another sign of growing intolerance among those with opposing views that is stirring the US, according to Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio.

“What worries me most is the general anger – and almost hatred – and the vision of overthrowing people that is now pervasive in almost every aspect of the country,” said Dalio in an interview with the Washington Post. “This general desire to hurt each other” is a concern, he said.

While the move by day-traders to increase the video game retailer’s stock may seem like a “rebellion”, it shows that they are beginning to understand the mechanics of markets – as well as those being pressured by short bets, he said.

However, traders to sense somewhat familiar to him, said Dalio.

“They remind me a lot at that age,” he said. “I started investing very early, I was a rebel and wanted to do it my way and take it down.”
