Daisy Ridley responds to Ted Cruz by shooting her ’emotionally tortured’ character in Star Wars with an epic feeling of leaving Texas in crisis

Daisy Ridley responded to Texas Senator Ted Cruz by attacking his Star Wars character while defending Gina Carano after his resignation from Disney.

The 28-year-old English actress who played Rey’s lead role in three Star Wars films during an interview on Tuesday with Yahoo Entertainment was asked about Cruz, 50, who took to Twitter earlier this month in defense of Carano, 38 .

‘Texan Gina Carano broke down barriers in the Star Wars universe: not a princess, not a victim, not an emotionally tortured Jedi. She played a woman who rocked and the girls admired. She was instrumental in making Star Wars fun again. Of course Disney canceled it, ‘Cruz tweeted on February 11, the day after Carano was fired after her Instagram post comparing the treatment of American conservatives to the persecution of Jews during the Holocaust.

Cruz was apparently referring to Ridley’s character, Rey, who was traumatized as an orphan after his parents’ murder and the actress admitted that she didn’t know about her tweet.

‘I didn’t know, and I’m very happy to be an emotionally tortured Jedi who doesn’t leave his state when he is going through a terrible time,’ Ridley applauded back.

The actress was referring to Cruz’s widely criticized decision earlier this month to go to Cancún, Mexico, with her family, while Texas was being hit by a historic winter storm that left some 4.3 million without power and millions without drinking water.

Ridley was promoting his next film Chaos Walking, which premiered on Wednesday in South Korea.
