Cyberpunk Studio 2077 denies ‘content cut’ rumors

CD Projekt Red denied claims made by an alleged anonymous member of the Cyberpunk 2077 development team, which included the claim that they are planning a major No Man’s Sky makeover in June. The insider’s alleged post was copied and pasted on forums and recapitulated in videos for several weeks, probably because it gave fans hope for the future of the game, while also giving observers a lot of drama to watch. Last night, CDPR declared that “it just isn’t true”.

CDPR said on twitter, “We don’t normally comment on rumors, but this time we wanted to make an exception, as this story just isn’t true.”

His tweet pointed to a GameFAQs post that said he was reposting another forum post by someone who claimed to be an anonymous Cyberpunk developer. It was released a little, you know.

“CDPR has done itself harm to keep investors safe and sound,” said the post. “Now, developers are hearing plans for a ‘No Man’s Sky’ style comeback scheduled for late June. The first two patches are due in mid-March, despite what has been said by top executives. There will be major exits from the studio in the coming months. Developer morale is down and Sony is plaguing us due to the huge volume of refund requests. “

The post also made statements about large parts of the game being cut, including “a large underground part of the city”. He added: “Most apartments with“ Closed (locked) ”indications used to be looted, we have eliminated more than 50,000 lines of dialogue and I believe the June update will bring a lot of cut content back into the game.” And there was a lot of chat about what changed or went wrong, including the change of voice actor from Johnny Silverhand to Keanu Reeves.

In short, the post gave hope to people who want CDPR to overhaul and expand the game with patches and ammunition for those who rage against their decisions. I think CDPR got tired of it all. And given that lawyers are trying to get collective action among investors, they are probably very interested in putting the rumor under control.

Of course, I would like to see CDPR reformulate and expand Cyberpunk 2077. Despite its technical and design issues, I really enjoyed my time in Night City with my new cyber friends (in the past 100 hours now, Steam says, although that includes a long time in Photo mode). I was one of the people who called Cyberpunk one of our favorite games of 2020. And without a doubt, something went wrong with creating the game. But instead of investing in rumors and hopes, I will wait to see CDPR really do.
