Cyberpunk 2077’s speed fault allows you to run faster than cars can load

Not all failures in Cyberpunk 2077 they are as destructive as players’ butts or unmentionable hanging and falling. Some can be useful – especially for speedrunners.

The flaw in question involves modifying V with Maneuvering System, a piece of cyberware that allows the player to dodge in the air. (Find said cyberware in the Arroyo sub-district in Santo Domingo.) As Redditor Strikielol discovered (via Eurogamer), it also allows players to run in the air. When a dash in mid-air is timed correctly, it gives V super speed.

The trick is to hit dash just before V falls; this basically confuses the game in merging the dash and the leap forward, and with that, V accumulates momentum and speed far beyond what the developers of CD Projekt Red intended. We know this because, when navigating the highway, the player is going faster than the cars to load. Watch them come and go:

Other players have found ways to increase earnings with in-world mods, such as reinforced tendons (available at the ripperdoc in Watson, Little China), which adds a double jump to the player’s repertoire.

What is it for? Well, it should be obvious, but that sort of thing is often useful for speedrunners, especially in big-world RPG games. There’s a bug inside Fallout 3 which likewise confuses and takes advantage of the game, giving the player a great boost in walking and running speed; this has been a mainstay of Fall 3any% run, helping a runner break the 15 minute completion mark five years ago. (The current world record holder, LMW, also used the “speed cripple” trick to set the 14:24 time on December 17th.)

Cyberpunk 2077Any% mark is substantially longer – 3:03:50, defined by ColdCypher on December 31. Of course, the game was only released on December 10. barrier in no time.
