Cyberpunk 2077: Principal 1.2 patch postponed after cyber attack

CD Projekt Red delayed the major patch 1.2 of Cyberpunk 2077 after the cyber attack that the studio suffered earlier this month. CD Projekt Red announced the news on Twitter, also mentioning that this new patch “goes beyond any of our previous updates.”

“While we very much wanted to deliver Patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 in the timeframe we detailed earlier, the recent cyber attack on the studio’s IT infrastructure and the broad scope of the update mean that this will unfortunately not happen – we will need more time,” wrote the CD Projekt Red.“Our goal for Patch 1.2 goes beyond any of our previous updates. We’ve been working on a number of general quality improvements and fixes and we still have a lot of work to do to make sure you get it. With that in mind, we’re now forecasting launching in the second half of March.

“It’s not the news we like to share, but we want to make sure that we get this update out properly. Stay tuned for more information as time approaches. Thank you for your continued patience and support.”

The aforementioned cyber attack against CD Projekt Red compromised the studio’s internal systems and hackers stole documents and source code from Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3 and more. These stolen files were sold at a dark web auction that was set at $ 7 million.

Patch 1.2 was part of the Cyberpunk 2077 Update Map that detailed the future of the game after the litany of launch issues. Along with these updates, there are still free DLCS planned along with the free update of the next generation console that will arrive in the second half of 2021.
