Cyberpunk 2077 patch 1.2 promises to tone down omniscient teleportation officers and pinball

CD Projekt Red (CDPR) detailed the improvements it plans to bring to Cyberpunk 2077 in your next 1.2 patch. The ad, written as a newscast within the universe, details the planned improvements in quality of life, including police that don’t appear instantly when you commit a crime, an improved driving experience and a setting that should prevent you from accidentally entering traffic or outside a building.

Although the game received a much criticism for being generally problematic – and in some ways unfinished – it appears that the CDPR is trying to resolve some of the most memorized complaints. In the section of the blog post on the enhanced police response, there is a humorous anecdote from the universe that captures an experience that many players have had:

My choom, Jake, was in a shootout with Tyger Claws the other day, when he missed a shot and ran over a pedestrian across the street. In an instant, the NCPD rushed over him and took him down. It’s as if they came out of nowhere right behind your back! It is a very brutal response to a normal accidental murder, if you ask me!”- Mike de Kabuki, 28.

The driving experience in the game is also not very good. CDPR hopes to make it better by improving the steering response (you can see a comparison video below) and making it possible for your car to detach automatically if it is supported by a barrier or other object. While improved driving should help, there are also many other problems with driving (like collision detection) that will have to be solved before driving becomes, you know, fun.

The patch was originally due to come out in February, but was postponed when the studio fell victim to a ransomware attack. CDPR now plans to launch it in the “second half of March”.

It has been about three months since the game was pulled from the PlayStation Store due to the immense number of bugs (and the fact that it was almost impossible to play on a basic PlayStation 4). So far, Sony and CDPR have not responded to requests for comment on when the game will return to the platform, so it is unclear whether this patch will be enough to return the game to the platform’s online store.
