Cyberpunk 2077 modders are fixing the game

Cyberpunk 2077 released full of issues big and small, but the mod community calmed down and started working. The game’s Nexus Mods page is now full of interesting additions that smooth the way through the base game’s rugged path.

For example, players noticed after the launch that Night City has no barbers. But thanks to a mod from homes432 called Arasaka Appearance Updater, the player can adjust some facial features and change the haircut.

Another mod that is incredibly useful is Better Minimap, by WillyJL. In the standard Cyberpunk 2077, every time V gets out of the car, the camera zooms in on the minimap, which means you can’t see the lens that got you out of the car in the first place. Better Minimap offers new zoom options and other features.

There is even a new mod that offers a third-person camera. Jelle Bekkar posted third-party TPP Mod WIP on NexusMods, which allows the player to switch between four different camera options.

The above mods have problems; some are marked as WIP (work in progress), or the author notes that they have minor problems with delays or flickering images. But they are also a very impressive effort to fix a game that was not ready for primetime.

CD Projekt Red announced a post-launch online and DLC mode prior to the game’s release, but it is currently unclear whether these plans have changed since then. Cyberpunk 2077troubled launch on December 10. CD Projekt Red has released hotfixes for the game, and has two major updates planned for this month and February. Most recently, Hotfix 1.06 released on December 23, 2020.
