It hurts us to say no, you didn’t imagine things: According to Entertainment Weekly, The CW officially ordered a pilot for Greg Berlanti at an advanced age Super powerful girls. Here is the premise:
“The Powerpuff Girls used to be America’s tiny superheroes, now they are disillusioned young men in their early twenties who resent having lost their childhood to the fight against crime. Will they agree to meet now that the world needs them more than ever? Based on Cartoon Network’s original animation series and characters created by Craig McCracken. “
Naturally, no one asked for that and all the countless things that CW could turn into the next Riverdale, The Powerpuff Girls it’s not exactly what anyone would have in mind to be at the top of the list. Seeing bleak versions of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup may not look promising, but here’s something that does: Diablo Cody is a writer and executive producer on the show.
At this point, it seems that all beloved children’s series have received “adult” treatment. Archie Andrew’s innocuous high school love triangle was turned into a sensual and supernatural show that makes absolutely no sense 99% of the time. Nancy Drew fuck. Sabrina is the Queen of Hell. As an EP, Berlanti continues to strengthen his brand with fragments of our childhood favorites. Well, here I am hoping that Super powerful girls show is more Jennifer’s body than Riverdale.
This is not the only CW pilot ordered. There’s also the supernatural series by Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship Naomi, an untitled drama produced by Jane the Virgin producer Jennie Snyder Urman, and a US reboot The 4400.
