Cuomo’s sexual harassment charges lead Time’s Up to call for an ‘independent investigation’

Accusations of sexual harassment against New York governor Andrew Cuomo led the defense organization Time’s Up to call an “independent investigation”, according to a statement released by its president.

On Wednesday, Cuomo’s former deputy secretary and special adviser Lindsey Boylan published an essay in which she alleged sexual misconduct committed by the politician, which her camp denied.

Now, Time’s Up, an organization dedicated to combating harassment, assault and discrimination against women in the workplace, has issued a statement in response.

“Allegations of inappropriate behavior in any workplace are deeply worrying and must be addressed,” said Tina Tchen, the organization’s president and CEO. “We call on the Cuomo government to conduct a full and independent investigation into these claims immediately.”

The Board of Time’s Up is occupied by several celebrities, including Eva Longoria, Ashley Judd and Jurnee Smollett.

The stars have yet to speak publicly about the charges against Cuomo. Fox News contacted its representatives for comment.

Meanwhile, actress turned activist Rose McGowan recently spoke to Fox News in support of Boylan.

ROSE MCGOWAN BACKS CUOMO ACCUSER LINDSEY BOYLAN, LEAGUE TO INVESTIGATE ‘MONSTROUS’ CLAIMS

“I fully support Lindsey Boylan. Her truth leaks out of every word she wrote on the screen,” McGowan told us. “She, none of us, must endure what she endured. If they are doing this to her, what are they doing to the constituents? What is he going to do with what he considers the little ones? It’s monstrous.”

In his article published on Wednesday, Boylan detailed several specific cases in which Cuomo allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior. She wrote that “she complained to friends that the governor would do anything to touch me on the lower back, arms and legs”.

Cuomo allegedly encouraged Boylan to look for pictures of his alleged ex-girlfriend, telling her that “[they] they could be sisters. “In another incident at the Cuomo office in New York, said Boylan, the governor kissed her on the lips.

“As we said before, Boylan’s claims about inappropriate behavior are simply false,” Cuomo’s press secretary Caitlin Girouard said in an earlier statement.

In August 2019, Judd made a commemorative post on Facebook, writing that Cuomo had “just sanctioned part of Time’s Up #NYSafetyAgenda”.

The goal of the agenda was “to strengthen sexual harassment protections at work for millions of New Yorkers and ensure that people can hold harassers accountable in the workplace. Excited to continue this work in New York and beyond,” said the actress in season.
