Cubs’ minor, Jesus Camargo, arrested in drug bust

A lower league player from the Chicago Cubs system was arrested in Colorado after police discovered 21 pounds of methamphetamine and more than a pound of oxycodone pills in a Cubs backpack in his car.

Jesus Camargo Corrales, a 25-year-old Single-A pitcher, was arrested on Wednesday in Eagle County, Colorado, for four drug crimes by possession and distribution, according to the WGN-Chicago website.

Law enforcement officers stopped the pitcher, who passes professionally past Jesus Camargo, according to MILB.com, after witnessing the silver BMW he drove wandering the lanes and speeding on Interstate 70.

The car was searched by the Eagle County sheriff’s office and a K-9 unit discovered the backpack under the back seat, which contained the drugs, as well as several baseball gloves, cleats and $ 1,000 in cash, according to the WGN. Two other people were in the car, but they would not face charges. He told police he was driving from Arizona to Denver to teach at a baseball clinic.
