Crusader Kings 3: Northern Lords will add Viking flavor this week, along with a major free update

Crusader Kings 3 developers, Paradox Interactive, are releasing a major free 1.3 update last month, one that would expand duels, bring snow and play down with randomly generated poetry.

We now know that these additions will come this week along with the Northern Lords flavor pack, which adds Nordic-themed content, including new Viking hair styles and events.

Announced during tonight’s Paradox Insider stream, Northern Lords is a “flavor pack” rather than a complete expansion. He adds new art for Nordic characters, including clothing, hairstyles and beards, new music, new ship models and new events inspired by Nordic culture.

The free upgrade is the most substantial part of what is to come, but the addition of winter obviously blends very well with the focus on the icy north. Winters can be mild, normal or harsh, with the latter causing your troops to suffer more fatal losses in battle. I’m from frigid Scotland and once I broke my wrist when I slipped on the ice, but maybe I was lucky to survive.

Both the free update and the Northern Lords package will arrive next Tuesday, March 16. The Northern Lords package will cost £ 5.19 / € 7.

Vikings seem to be in vogue right now, between the latest Assassin’s Creed, the vast success of Valheim and the upcoming independent games like Nordic city builder Frozenheim. Presumably, they will wash up on the Verdansk coast soon.
