A large fire broke out on an MSC cruise ship anchored in Corfu (Kerkyra) Greece on Friday.
The fire started in a fiberglass lifeboat at MSC Lirica before 3:42 pm local time, and sent large clouds of smoke into the sky, according to MSC Cruises.
The ship is anchored in the port of Corfu during the winter with 51 crew members on board, but no passengers.
There were no injuries, according to the cruise line.
It took the firefighters about three hours to control the fire.
Efforts to extinguish the fire were declared completed at 6:58 pm local time, according to the cruise company.
A preliminary assessment showed damage to the side of the ship, but not inside, said the MSC spokesman.
The 902-foot, 65,591-ton vessel has 992 staterooms with a capacity for 2,548 passengers plus 752 employees, according to MSC Cruises.
Facilities on board the ship include a spa, theater, casino and nightclub.
