If you had “Ray Romano read a version of Beyoncé’s ‘Crazy in Love’ on your 2021 Bingo card, you’re in luck. Because that is the essence of Made for love trailer – as well as the promise of Palm Springs Star Cristin Milioti in another sinister sci-fi comedy. see the Made for love trailer below.
Trailer for Made for Love
Milioti stars in the new HBO Max Original series, Made for love, like a woman trying to escape a bad marriage, only to find out that her ex (Billy Magnussen) placed a surveillance chip on his head. But Milioti, who seems to have found a very specific niche as pleasant protagonists who are forced into dystopian situations (see: Palm Springs, Black Mirror), can’t take it anymore, going to his hometown in the desert, where his father (Ray Romano) lives. At one point, Romano can scarily read the lyrics to Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love”.
Produced by Christina Lee, who also acts as a showrunner, Made for love it looks like a cross between Palm Springs and Black mirror – merging the sensibilities of the most eccentric science fiction of Palm Springs with Milioti’s dark dystopia Black mirror episode “USS Callister.” Although Milioti may be returning to good condition again, she is so friendly and charming that I would be happy to see her stepping furiously into another sci-fi desert, as she dressed again in a shiny dress and smeared mascara.
The series is executive produced by Alissa Nutting, Patrick Somerville, Dean Bakopoulos, Liza Chasin and SJ Clarkson. Made for love it also stars Dan Bakkedahl, Noma Dumezweni, Augusto Aguilera and Ray Romano. Recurring guest stars include Caleb Foote, Kym Whitley, Nyasha Hatendi and Patti Harrison, and other guest stars include Ione Skye, Jon Daly, Matty Cardarople, Mel Rodriguez and Sarunas Jackson.
Here is the synopsis of Made for love:
The comedy series is a darkly absurd and cynically moving story of love and divorce. It follows Hazel Green (Cristin Milioti), a runaway thirty-something woman after 10 years in a stifling marriage to Byron Gogol (Billy Magnussen), a billionaire controller of technology. Soon she finds out that her husband has implanted a monitoring device – the Made for Love chip – in her brain, allowing him to track her, observe her and learn about her “emotional data” as she tries to regain her independence. Through the chip, Byron is able to watch Hazel’s every move as she flees to her hometown in the desert to take refuge with her elderly widowed father, Herbert (Ray Romano) and his synthetic partner, Diane.
Made for love debut this April on HBO Max.
