Criminal rents a car, Robs Bank and then comes back to buy a BMW

A man admitted theft to a federal bank after renting a car at a dealership, taking it to a bank, robbing that bank and then returning with the money to try to buy a BMW.

Eric Dion Warren, 50, was sentenced to 20 years in prison after admitting his audacious – if not so well thought out – crime.

The incident occurred in 2019, when Warren drove the borrowed car from the dealership to a bank near Lubbock, Texas.

As soon as he arrived, he placed a bag of fast food restaurant on the counter and passed a note to the cashier that said: “This is a f *** ing robbery. Play with me and die. I want $ 10,000 in $ 50 and $ 100 bills now you have 1 minute or I’ll kill you. “

He later produced what appeared to be a pistol, saying to the bank employee, “I’m not kidding, I just want 100 and 50”.

According to prosecutors, the bank teller gave him the money in the bag, but included a roll of $ 20 bills with registered serial numbers.

He then took his $ 5,086 back to the same dealership where he was seen buying a black BMW car.

The prosecution team said, “Mr. Warren started waving the money he had illegally obtained from the bank robbery for concessionaire employees.”

Not the smartest move, is it?

Things started to get complicated for Warren when authorities contacted the dealership a quarter of an hour later to inform them of the runaway car, which had registered license plates.

The cops then showed up at the dealership and found Warren, with the money, as well as a lead shotgun that had been altered to look like a real weapon.

He pleaded guilty to the crime in August.

The official statement detailing the crime says: “Mr. Warren was arrested with $ 5,086 in cash.

“The serial numbers of the money found in Mr. Warren’s person have been cross-checked and matched the numbers on the banknotes stolen from AIM bank.

“The police also recovered a painted lead shotgun, similar to a real pistol, about 3 meters away from Mr. Warren at the time of his arrest.

“The demand note delivered to the bank’s teller was analyzed and confirmed the existence of Mr. Warren’s fingerprints and DNA.”

In short, it’s not the smartest idea this guy has ever had.
