Vaccination is already alleviating the Covid epidemic in Britain, with initial data showing it is definitely reducing cases.
The research that will be published in a few days will provide real evidence that the British are being protected, including suggestions that the effect is still growing a month after a dose, said Anthony Harnden, vice president of the Joint Vaccination and Immunization Committee (JCVI ).
With fears about a vaccine export ban by the EU, Professor Harnden said there are plans for people to mix and match the vaccines if second doses of the Pfizer jab are not available.
