COVID vaccine updates: Moderna begins testing booster doses against variants

NEW YORK (WABC) – Moderna is now testing its COVID-19 vaccine enhancers for protection against emerging variants.

The pharmaceutical company says that 60 people who have already received the Modern vaccine will receive the booster injection.

The Modern vaccine has been shown to provide protection against variants of the virus.

However, it showed a decrease in the antibody response of the variant originating in South Africa.

Twenty people will receive a booster dose designed to treat the variant.

Another 20 people will receive a larger dose of this same booster.

The remaining 20 will receive a booster that combines the original vaccine with the new booster to provide a broad immune response.
