The most recent positivity rate in the city is over 6.5%.
Efforts can help to change the trend, with some of the vaccination sites open 24 hours a day.
The two mega sites that open on Sunday will be open 24 hours, one at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park and the other at the Bath Gate Industrial Park in the Bronx.
On Saturday, the city health commissioner took a tour of one of the community’s three vaccination centers at a high school in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx.
When the vaccine is available to the general public, they will be able to vaccinate up to 2,000 people a day.
Twelve community sites will be open by the end of the week. They are only available by appointment on city websites for eligible groups, which now include healthcare workers and residents and employees of nursing homes.

As of Monday, this extends to seniors over 75, teachers and traffic workers.
By the end of the week, the city will have 160 vaccination posts open in total, in all five neighborhoods.
Governor Andrew Cuomo estimates that, with the vaccine available, it will be April before all eligible groups who want a vaccine can get it.
Qualifiers can apply for a vaccine on the city’s website. Starting on Monday, a telephone reservation system will also be in place.
