  • Right-handed Pedro Strop is being kept out of Puppies‘training camp due to breaches of the COVID protocol, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports (Twitter link) Regarding the previous item on Franmil Reyes, Gordon Wittenmyer of NBC Sports Chicago reports that a now deleted social media post revealed that Strop and Reyes were together. A fixation on the 2013-19 Cubs bullpen, Strop returned to the team in a minor league deal last month, after launching for the Reds in 2020.

  • Jose Ramirez and Franmil Reyes are both being kept out of Indians training camp to break health and safety protocols, manager Terry Francona told reporters (including MLB.com’s Mandy Bell and Ryan Lewis of Akron Beacon Journal) Players reported their violations, which included dining together at a restaurant and cutting Reyes’ hair on Friday. Ramirez and Reyes will have to test negative for COVID-19 before returning to the camp, with Francona saying he hopes to learn more details today about possible return dates.
  • THE Red Sox catcher officially removed Kevin Plawecki from the COVID-19 injured list and put Plawecki back on the 40-man list. A vacancy on the list was created yesterday, when the Blue Jays took the appeaser Joel Payamps away from the Sox in a waiver claim. Plawecki has already released health protocols and returned to training with the team more than a week ago.
