COVID-19 vaccines arriving at Publix in Miami-Dade and Broward

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida. – Publix pharmacies in Miami-Dade and Broward counties will finally start administering COVID-19 vaccines next week, the supermarket chain announced on Thursday.

Publix says vaccines will be available starting on Monday at all 730 pharmacies in Florida, including 136 in Broward and Miami-Dade.

Appointments are required and residents aged 65 and over can start applying on Friday at 7 am at publix.com/covidvaccine.

“The online reservation system normally opens every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning,” said the network. “Appointments may not be available in all counties during all scheduling opportunities.”

Some Publix locations in Monroe County and Palm Beach had previously offered photos, but Miami-Dade and Broward were left out of the initial launch.

Vaccines are provided free of charge, but customers with health insurance must bring their insurance card to the scheduled appointment. Medicare members must bring their red, white and blue Medicare Part B card. Customers without health insurance will need to provide their driver’s license or Social Security number.

“We know how important this vaccine is to the people we serve and are grateful to be able to expand our ability to help our communities during this time of need,” Publix CEO Todd Jones said in a statement.

Several other pharmacies in the state are also offering vaccines as the supply of injections increases.
