COVID-19 vaccine | NYU Langone Health

NYU Langone now offers the coronavirus vaccine (COVID-19) to eligible patients, based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New York State Department of Health.

Based on these guidelines and instructions from the state of New York, we were approved to start vaccinating patients aged 75 and over and some essential workers. As state guidelines expand – and as the vaccine supply delivered to NYU Langone increases – we will offer the vaccine to other eligible patients.

How you will find out about the COVID-19 vaccine schedule

We are contacting our patients by email and text message as soon as they become eligible to receive the vaccine and as we have the vaccine available, there is no need to contact your doctor directly. If you are a NYU Langone patient, review your contact information in the NYU Langone Health MyChart account and make sure it is up to date.

If you don’t already have a MyChart account, create your account now so you can schedule your appointment as soon as you are eligible. We encourage our patients to download the NYU Langone Health app and create a MyChart account so that you can schedule your vaccination appointment quickly and easily when you are eligible.

Vaccines are being applied at several NYU Langone locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island. You will be able to choose the most convenient location and time for you.

Important vaccine information and considerations

When we notify you that you are eligible to schedule your vaccination, we encourage you to schedule your appointment as soon as possible as availability is limited. You will need to receive two doses of the vaccine for it to be effective. We received different COVID-19 vaccines from different companies. You will not be able to choose the vaccine you will receive and we will not be able to inform you of the vaccine in advance.

Most people can schedule directly as soon as you receive MyChart or text notification. However, if any of these categories apply to you, we ask that you contact your doctor first before making an appointment.

  • have you had an allergic reaction to a vaccine in the past
  • are you pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant
  • you have a condition that affects your immune system
  • you are receiving radiation therapy or taking medications that affect your immune system

Please do not schedule a vaccination or come to NYU Langone to be vaccinated if you have any of the following:

  • currently feeling bad
  • were told by the New York State Department of Health to quarantine or had a positive COVID-19 test in the last 10 days
  • were treated with antibody infusions, such as COVID serum or intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), in the last 90 days
  • had any vaccine in the last 14 days

After completing your first vaccination, you will need to schedule your second vaccination through MyChart. You can schedule your second vaccination between three and four weeks after your first dose, depending on the vaccine you received.
