Even with the winter storm, DSHS added that providers administered a total of 4.5 million doses of vaccines. Of these doses, 3.1 million people received the first dose and 1.4 million people are now fully vaccinated with both doses.
The DSHS also ensured that all of this week’s vaccines for federally supported locations in Houston and northern Texas have arrived.

The department’s associate commissioner said the FDA is due to meet later this week to make recommendations about the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
“This weekend, we could have a third vaccine authorized in the United States, and that would be another major development to accelerate our vaccination efforts,” said DSHS associate commissioner Imelda Garcia.
