DETROIT – Wayne County Public Health Division must reschedule vaccinations for Tuesday, January 19 and Wednesday, January 20 because of the depleted vaccine supply received from the State of Michigan, according to health officials county.
Persons scheduled for first-dose vaccines currently scheduled for both days will be notified individually of their new opening hours by the Wayne County Department of Public Health.

The rescheduled vaccinations will take place at Wayne County’s new vaccine site, within the Schoolcraft College Vista Tech Center, located at 18600 Haggerty Road in Livonia.
Rescheduling affects about 1,400 people, mainly health professionals, rescuers and essential professionals who are part of the Phase 1A group on the priority vaccination list.
Individuals scheduled to receive their second dose, or those who will be vaccinated at a local hospital, nursing home or long-term care facility, are unaffected.
Wayne County must reschedule and relocate its vaccination site because it has exhausted its supply of the COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by Pfizer.
According to Wayne County, the state has stopped supplying the Pfizer vaccine for the first few doses and, for the time being, is supplying the Wayne County Public Health Division with the Modern vaccine for the new first doses.
“Dosages of the Moderna vaccine should be administered differently than the Pfizer vaccine. The county will not receive its supply of the state’s Modern vaccine until Tuesday, making it too late to deal with vaccinations scheduled for that day or Wednesday, ”said a Wayne County statement on a shortage of supplies.
Wayne County vaccinations for people in Phase 1A and essential frontline workers in Phase 1B will resume on Thursday at the VistaTech Center at Schoolcraft College.
Additional vaccination sites will be announced as more vaccines become available in the state of Michigan, the county said.
“We finished the Pfizer vaccine on Saturday afternoon,” said Wayne County Chief Health Strategist Dr. Mouhanad Hammami. “We know this is frustrating and we apologize for the inconvenience. Our team is working hard to vaccinate as many residents as possible, but Michigan’s supply shortage remains a challenge. ”
