COVID-19 vaccination eligibility expands for upcoming appointments at Florida Publix Pharmacy

LAKELAND, Florida – (BUSINESS WIRE) – The eligibility requirements for individuals to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Florida have been expanded. Starting with appointments made during tomorrow’s scheduling opportunity, all K-12 teachers and staff in Florida and day care will be eligible to make an appointment at a Publix Pharmacy.

Eligibility

In accordance with state and federal requirements, vaccinations will be administered to adults under the age of 65, who are considered extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 by a doctor (a completed form from the state of Florida is required); all teachers and employees of elementary and high school and daycare; health professionals with direct contact with the patient and residents or members of the team of long-term institutions; individuals aged 50 or over who are sworn firefighters or police officers; and individuals aged 65 and over.

Commitments

Vaccines are provided only by appointment, while supplies last, through the online reservation system at publix.com/covidvaccine. Appointments cannot be made by calling Publix or Publix Pharmacy.

The online booking system will open on Friday, March 5, at 7 am Eastern Time, and eligible individuals will be able to schedule appointments for Monday, March 8, and Tuesday, March 9. The online reservation system typically opens every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning for vaccine appointments at Florida’s Publix pharmacies, as long as the company continues to receive doses of vaccines from the state and federal governments, except in unforeseen circumstances. Appointments may not be available in all counties during all scheduling opportunities.

Customers who book their second dose are unaffected by any variation in scheduling opportunities and must arrive at the COVID-19 vaccine check-in area at the scheduled date and time.

Necessary documentation

For consultations beginning March 5, adults under the age of 65 who meet the state’s criteria for being extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 must provide the completed state official form, found on the Florida Department of Health website.

Publix Pharmacy will administer the vaccine in the following counties while supplies last: Alachua, Bay, Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Citrus, Clay, Collier, Columbia, DeSoto, Duval, Escambia, Flagler, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lake , Lee, Leon, Manatee, Marion, Martin, Miami – Dade, Monroe, Nassau, Okaloosa, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Santa Rosa, Sarasota, Seminole , Sumter, Suwanee, Volusia and Walton. Costs and insurance

Vaccines are provided to eligible individuals, by appointment only, while supplies last, and at no cost to the individual.
