With the federal government continuing to increase its distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine in New York, Long Island will soon have three new mass vaccination sites.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Monday, March 8, that 10 new mass vaccination sites for COVID-19 are being established across the state, including two in Suffolk and one in Nassau.
On Long Island, the sites are being set up at:
Suffolk County
- Suffolk County Community College on Wicks Road in Brentwood;
- SUNY Stony Brook Campus of Southampton on Tuckahoe Road in Southampton.
Nassau County
- SUNY Old Westbury Clark Center – Gate C on Store Hill Road in Old Westbury.
Cuomo noted that the sites are still under development and are expected to be launched in the coming weeks. Final details, including information on scheduling appointments and opening hours, will be released in the coming days.
Those now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in New York include anyone over 65, New Yorkers with underlying medical conditions, residents and employees of long-term care institutions, first responders, day care centers and educators.
“Thanks to the increased supply of vaccines from our partners in Washington, we are able to use our state’s capacity to distribute doses more, and once opened, these new locations will allow us to continue to deliver vaccines on a large scale,” said Cuomo.
“We know that the vaccine is the weapon that will win this war, but it is only effective if we all take it, which is why we are working non-stop to establish places like these across the state to reach as many new ones as possible. – New Yorkers, “he added.
“The more people we vaccinate, the more we can continue our progress in keeping the infection rate in check, reopening our economy and defeating COVID once and for all.”
