Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

A resident of Humboldt County died after being diagnosed with COVID-19, and nine new cases of the virus were reported today. A total of 3,317 county residents tested positive for the virus.

The individual who died was in his 70s. This marks the 34th death related to COVID-19. The team at the Humboldt County Emergency and Public Health Operations Center extends its condolences to the person’s friends and family and everyone who has lost loved ones to the virus.

Humboldt County remains in the ‘red’ layer

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced today that Humboldt County will remain at the “Red” or Substantial level under the state’s “Safer Economy Plan”, with an adjusted case rate of 6.4 and a positivity rate of 2.3%.

Public health officials said the community can help the county stay in Red and improve to the “Orange” or Moderate level, following COVID-19’s preventive measures and making the first vaccination consultation offered. County residents can apply online to be notified when a vaccination appointment is available for their sector or age group.
