COVID-19 Statistics | March 25, 2021 | Lost Coast Outpost

Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

Humboldt County received a total of 6,910 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from the state of California for the next week.

Of these doses, 3,400 are Modern and 3,510 are Pfizer. No dose of the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine was allocated to the county in the next week. Humboldt County Public Health will use 700 doses of Moderna and 834 doses of Pfizer for next week’s large-scale vaccination clinics, in which Public Health hopes to test the MyTurn vaccine notification and scheduling program (myturn.ca. gov /) of the state in anticipation of large-scale adoption in April. The rest of the doses will be allocated to other approved local vaccinators.

The total number of COVID-19 positive Humboldt County residents now stands at 3,441, after nine new cases were reported today.

California Governor Gavin Newsom today announced plans to expand priority vaccination groups next month, based on “expected increases in supply”. The governor said that all people aged 50 and over will be eligible from April 1 and those over 16 will be eligible from April 15, although the state recognizes that “even with the expansion of vaccine supplies , it is expected to take several months for Californians willing to be vaccinated. ”

Humboldt County public health officials said local vaccination efforts continued to focus on groups prioritized from the start by the state. They pointed out that clinics for farm workers started last week, and some grocery store workers, restaurants and other food workers are receiving appointment invitations from their employers this week, with more expected in the coming weeks. Health officials went on to say that current allocations would not allow expansion into additional groups without the significant increase in supply forecast by the governor today.
