Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

Humboldt County saw a total of 2,725 positive cases of COVID-19, after an additional 53 cases were reported today.

More than 1,700 vaccination appointments were scheduled from today to Sunday, and all doses allocated to Humboldt County Public Health have been administered or are already scheduled to be administered. Public health continues to deplete its vaccine supply weekly.

Vaccines are administered through clinics coordinated by Public Health, hospitals and other local health providers. Planning is underway to expand the nominations to additional priority groups, depending on the availability of the vaccine. Currently, the priorities for the local COVID-19 vaccine are:

  • Health professionals – Continue to schedule vaccination appointments.
  • Residents and employees of long-term care institutions – Continue to schedule vaccination appointments.
  • People aged 75 and over – Continue to schedule vaccination appointments.
  • Emergency service workers – Continue to schedule vaccination appointments.
  • Elementary and high school educators and support staff – It is expected to start scheduling vaccination appointments in mid-February, with face-to-face teachers and support staff invited first, followed by those working with distance education.
  • Child care and early childhood education providers – Data collection from employers and organizations to plan clinics.
  • University education – Data collection from employers and organizations to plan clinics.
  • Food and agriculture workers – Planning stages to collect data from employers and organizations to plan clinics.

Organizations in the Child Care and Food and Agriculture sectors are encouraged to complete the Community Workforce Survey to support Public Health in planning the future distribution of vaccines in these workplaces. Individual county residents can complete the COVID-19 Vaccine Interest Form to be notified when a meeting is available for their priority group. Go to humboldtgov.org/InterestForm to complete the form.
