Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

A total of 2,220 county residents tested positive for COVID-19, after 49 new cases were reported today.

In vaccine news, today the county has moved to Phase 1B-level 1, starting with people aged 75 and over.

The Director of Public Health, Michele Stephens, said: “We continue to work at the levels of our plan and we are now opening the way for people aged 75 and over as there is enough vaccine for that. As we receive additional vaccines, we will open additional layers. ”

Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Ian Hoffman said that while Public Health ends one phase, it is preparing for the next. “We are vaccinating groups together,” he said. “We will continue to work with our health partners to send messages about when and where people can get their vaccine.”

Additional information on how people aged 75 and over can be vaccinated will become available in the coming weeks. Local health care providers will provide more information to their patients aged 75 and over.
