Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

A total of 2,171 county residents tested positive for COVID-19, after 33 new cases were reported today.

All Phase 1A healthcare professionals are encouraged to complete the Health Workforce survey with the link below to receive an invitation to a COVID-19 vaccination clinic. This includes people working in health facilities or long-term care facilities, home health caregivers and community health workers, including health care providers.

The form can be linked here: forms.gle/AFys9CLHFHYg5bcC6.

“If you work in the health field and have not yet been vaccinated, register now,” said Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Ian Hoffman. “In order to move on to the next priority group, we need to finish vaccinating health professionals in preparation for opening vaccination clinics for additional groups, including older adults.”

The Humboldt County COVID-19 data panel has been updated to include “Unknown” as an additional category for the type of transmission, in addition to Contact for a known case, Travel acquired, Community transmission and Under investigation.

A person who tests positive for COVID-19 will be considered unknown if the individual is:

  • Unable to be contacted
  • No callback after initial contact
  • It does not want to cooperate with Public Health.

Cases that met these criteria previously were designated as Under investigation. Dr. Hoffman said that this new category will provide more clarity on the outcome of the investigations.

“If your test is positive, Public Health is here to provide support to keep you and your loved ones safe. That means that we need to talk to you, ”said Dr. Hoffman. “Please take the call. Our contact investigators are here to help slow the spread of the virus, and that requires us all. ”
