Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

A total of 2,124 county residents tested positive for COVID-19, after 93 new cases were reported today.

Humboldt County Public Health and Emergency Operations Center staff are in the process of scheduling vaccinations for all remaining Phase 1A health care providers. Health officer Dr. Ian Hoffman said that while implementing the early stages of vaccine distribution has presented challenges, the county is making steady progress. “We continue to build relationships with providers and strengthen existing relationships with others to get this vaccine to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible,” he said.

Dr. Hoffman went on to say that those who are in Phase 1A and work in clinics or health offices that do not have scheduled vaccinations should contact the Joint Information Center at 707-441-5000 for more information.

The guidelines have not yet been released by the state for Phase 1B, which will focus on people over 75.

Daily and weekly data sets have been updated on the Humboldt County Data Panel. Some highlights include:

  • The county’s confirmed case rate is 1,593 per 100,000 residents. State and national rates are more than four times higher, at 6,760 and 6,804 per 100,000 residents, respectively.
  • Confirmed cases increased by 9.6% in the last week.
  • The case doubling time is now 41.5 days.
  • Just over 26% of the cases were confirmed in the age group of 20 to 29 years, the highest percentage of all groups.
