A new variant of the coronavirus is in the bay area and is believed to be the first of its kind in the United States. It is a double mutation and is believed to be responsible for the increase in cases in India.

“We have been playing very safe, but some factors have really influenced the decision. Watching the numbers drop and then Hawaii was really very safe, ”said Kristina Barnes.
But while Bay Area counties have reported a decline in new COVID-19 infections, a variant of Coronavirus has been confirmed here in Santa Clara County.
Stanford Health experts confirmed a new double mutation of the coronavirus, at least one case here in the bay area and more suspicious.
But it is not yet clear whether this new variant is more dangerous.
“There is no definitive evidence that this double variant is more virulent or causes more serious illness,” said Dr. Dean Winslow of Stanford University.
