A woman who earned the nickname “Dancing Nurse” for cheering her COVID-19 patients with her movements while volunteering across the country, contracted the virus.
Nurse Ana Wilkinson, who treated coronavirus patients in New York and most recently in Texas, wrote on Instagram on Monday that she is fighting the virus and asked the public to wear masks.
“I wanted to share that health professionals are SICK. We take care of the public and, yes, we get sick. We are human. But if we get sick, who will look after their families? ”Wilkinson wrote.
“As more and more health services get sick or even die, we feel frustrated, tired and discouraged. All we ask is that you wear your mask. ”⠀⠀
Wilkinson, who lives in San Diego, California, was negative on December 13 and returned to work at UC San Diego Medical Center the same Monday.
She was tested again and vaccinated on December 16. She learned a few days later that her COVID results were positive, according to KABC-TV.
Wilkinson says he doesn’t know how he got the virus. She noted that her firefighter husband was possibly exposed at work, but the test was negative.
The nurse told KGTV that she will always remember the patients she lost and warned that the virus attacks anyone.
“My 23-year-old children, my 25, I say mine because I felt like they were my children who tried everything to save them. And for a 32-year-old lady who died of COVID, ”she told the outlet. “That’s what I try to tell people, COVID does not discriminate against age, race, color, anything. He simply chooses you. “
