Courtney Love shared a black and white photo of her late husband Kurt Cobain on her Instagram on Saturday morning.
The post was intended to commemorate the date of what would have been the Nirvana frontman’s 54th birthday.
The 56-year-old musician also included a quote from the 1992 Incesticide compilation album insert in the post caption.
The quote said: ‘”At this point, I have a request for our fans. If any of you hate homosexuals, people of another color or women, please do this favor for us – leave us alone! Don’t come to our shows and don’t buy our records. “‘
Love also included a message from you, writing, ‘Happy birthday, beautiful boy.’
Reports diverge about when the ex-couple first met, with many sources commenting that Cobain had first spoken to his future wife after a 1989 show.
Music journalist Everett True later declared that he had personally introduced the couple to an L7 and Butthole Surfers concert in 1991.
