County Expands Availability of COVID-19 Vaccination for Ages 75 and Over | News

Due to the slowdown in consultations at the COVID-19 vaccination sites, San Diego County today has expanded the category of eligible to include those aged 75 and over.

“We take this action today to add individuals 75 years of age or older, because they are at the greatest risk,” said Wilma J. Wooten, MD, MPH, county public health officer. “It remains our intention to expand vaccines to people aged 65 and over in the week of January 25, depending on the availability of the vaccine.”

These new requirements apply to Petco Park Super Vaccination Station and other distribution points that supply County vaccine. More information is at coronavirus-sd.com/vaccine and reservations can be made at vaccinationsuperstationsd.com.

Only health professionals (Phase 1A, all levels) and those aged 75 and over (Phase 1B, level 1) can visit vaccination sites.

  1. Healthcare professionals are encouraged to contact their doctor or health care providers first to request the vaccine, but if none are available, they should make an appointment at a local location.
  1. Appointments are mandatory; walk-ups and drive-ups without commitments will be refused.
  2. Do not schedule an appointment if you have COVID-19 or are sick. Follow the CDC guidelines for these situations
  3. Medical professionals who administer the vaccine will wear personal protective equipment
  4. Wear a mask
  5. Acceptable forms of proof to be submitted to the County Vaccine Center
  6. Employee identification badge with photo or other documents, including a professional license and photo identification, letter signed by the employer on the facility’s letterhead and photo identification; or a pay stub or timesheet from your health care or home support services with a photo ID
