A Nashville country singer who survived the Christmas Day explosion in Music City has recovered his most prized possession – his missing cat, Molly, according to a report.
Buck McCoy had to flee to safety when the explosion shook his apartment near the site of the explosion, almost a week ago.
When he tried to return to pick up his feline friend, the firefighters said he needed to go – and he’s been looking for the cat ever since.
Until Thursday.
“I love you all,” McCoy told WKRN reporter Jerry Barlar, who posted the interview on Facebook.
“I want to thank all animal lovers around the world,” said the singer. “She is here, she is alive, everything will be fine.”
McCoy shared eyewitness accounts of the massive explosion that damaged 41 buildings, disrupted regional communications and injured three at around 6:30 am on Friday.
Police said Anthony Warner, a 63-year-old loner, detonated the bomb in his trailer.
McCoy posted “You saw Molly” flyers all over the area to find his missing cat and searched desperately for her.
Authorities set up traps in the neighborhood to trap stray cats.
Then, on Thursday, McCoy met with Molly outside his untidy house.
“Somehow, she survived,” he told Barlar. “It was water coming down for hours and hours on top of it…. She was completely terrified.
“Hey Molly,” said McCoy, turning to the cat. “You are a superstar now. No autographs at this time. “
McCoy said he has already found a new home and, although he hopes to get his guitar and other personal items from the old apartment, he is ready for a new start.
“I don’t care about other things. Let’s get these other things out, ”he said. “We are going to buy cat food, a smaller box and we are going to start an entire life over.”
“I have nowhere to go,” he added.
