Could Raiders hire free Tampa Bay Buccaneers agents?

Soon, the brilliance of winning the Super Bowl will disappear for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the reality of the NFL’s endless business routine settles in.

The Buccaneers have eight key free agents (which is a lot) and JoeBuc.com reports that the teams plan to retain five or six of those top players.

Perhaps the Raiders can take advantage of the Buccaneers’ free agency standoff and launch and steal a player.

The main free agents in Tampa Bay are:

  • Edge rusher Shaq Barrett
  • Defensive discharge Ndamukong Suh
  • Wide receiver Chris Godwin
  • Rob Gronkowski with a strong point
  • Linebacker Lavonte David
  • Recipient Antonio Brown (yes, we know)
  • Running back Leonard Fournette
  • Kicker Ryan Succop

Barrett or Godwin will likely receive the franchise brand (teams can start using it on Tuesday), but the player who was not scored by Tampa Bay will likely be too wealthy for the Raiders’ budget. I would take the two off the scene for Las Vegas, although Barrett and Goodwin were good.

Furthermore, there is no way in hell the Raiders and Brown are reunited!

So, let’s look at the other options.

Gronkowski would be a lot of fun in Las Vegas, but with Darren Waller and Forster Moreau, I see no need. Besides, I can’t see Gronk leaving Tom Brady.

David will probably be very expensive and the Raiders don’t need Succop, as they are excited about kicker Daniel Carlson.

That leaves Suh and Fournette from this group.

I could see that they both matched the Raiders. They could use a big backup backback behind Josh Jacobs and he would add a dimension to the Las Vegas attack.

The Raiders had been interested in Suh for three years (Jon Gruden’s first season return to the team) and Suh would fit in perfectly. He would change the tone of the Las Vegas defense. But it seems to be a priority in Tampa Bay and it never comes cheap.

But with the potential flow emerging in Tampa Bay, I think it is wise for this community to maintain control over Suh and Fournette.
