Corsicans S. Antoine Winfield turn fine Super Bowl amount into youth donation

It has been more than two weeks since Antoine Winfield Jr. and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl LV, but Winfield is not far from the triumph at Raymond James Stadium.

Winfield, who recently tattooed the Lombardi Trophy on his arm, is donating $ 7,815 – the amount he was fined for insulting Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City bosses during the big game – to support the Buccaneers Youth Leadership Program at Young Middle East Tampa Magnet School.

In turn, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Social Justice Fund is matching Winfield’s pledge and increasing the total amount donated to the school to $ 15,630.

“Once it got a lot of media attention, it was there and I just wanted to spin it in a way that made it positive,” said Winfield through the team’s Carmen Vitali website. “And what better way than to give back to the Youth Leadership program that I did all year? That’s how it happened, because I was thinking about different things I could do. I spent the whole year with the kids and talking to them and everything, so I feel like it was a good opportunity to go with these guys. “

The donation was appreciated by Hillsborough County Superintendent Addison Davis.

“Our district is deeply grateful, not only for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but also for Antoine Winfield, Jr., for this cash donation that will have a strong impact on Young Middle Magnet,” said Davis, via Buccaneers.com. “Taking an unhappy situation and turning it into a positive one is the measure of a true champion and a wonderful example for our students and the whole community.”

It is another positive view of the game and its aftermath of Winfield, who previously admitted he did not regret having made a peace sign on Hill’s face in the last quarter of the Bucs’ victory.

“The provocation was something I just had to do,” said Winfield after the game. “When we played them earlier, Hill went after us. He did a somersault in front of my face and gave me the sign of peace. So it was only fair that I give him back the sign of peace right now. It was amazing to be able to do that. I will not lie.

In the Chiefs’ regular season victory over the Buccaneers, Hill had a day and showed his peace symbol to Winfield after a score and then jumped back into the end zone after another touchdown.

Winfield waited and gave the last word – or signal, so to speak.

A Super Bowl champion after a stellar stellar campaign, Winfield is basking in the glory of the big game, taking everything and giving back, too.
