Coronavirus vaccination site to open in February at Phoenix Municipal Stadium

PHOENIX – A second state COVID-19 vaccination station will open next month due to high demand at the state’s first vaccination station at State Farm Stadium.

On February 1, Phoenix Municipal Stadium will open as a vaccination site for coronavirus. Registration for nominations at the venue will begin on Tuesday, January 19 at 9 am, according to a press release from Governor Doug Ducey’s office.

Phoenix Municipal Stadium, located near the Phoenix Zoo on the corner of Mill Avenue and Priest Drive / Galvin Parkway, will offer daytime appointments based on vaccine availability.

The news comes as the State Farm Stadium continues to have a high number of vaccine records, resulting in a crowded January month on the Glendale website.

More appointments for State Farm Stadium in February will also be available on Tuesday, January 19 at 9:00 am. They will also offer second dose consultations, in addition to the current capacity for first doses, says the press release.

The governor’s office says there are more than 200 vaccination sites that have received the vaccine in Arizona, including 45 community health centers.

For those still looking to register for a coronavirus vaccine consultation, county health departments are working to expand availability at their locations.

The CDC Retail Pharmacy Program will add up to 100 pharmacy stores that can administer the vaccine in the coming weeks. When the program is in full swing, more than 800 Arizona pharmacies will have vaccines available.

Nearly 190,000 doses of the vaccine were administered in Arizona on Thursday morning, including 17,000 people who completed both doses.
