The Center City vaccination site in Philadelphia will soon switch to the Johnson & Johnson single dose vaccine, officials announced on Monday.
Starting on Tuesday, for the next three weeks, the site will finish administering the second doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, but will no longer administer the first doses or accept quick visits.
Once the second doses are taken, the site will begin distributing the vaccine in a single dose for two weeks, according to a statement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which helps to administer the site.
The Center City Vaccination website was launched on March 3, with the stated objective of “expanding the vaccination rate in the city of Philadelphia in an efficient, effective and equitable manner, focusing on communities at high risk of exposure to COVID-19 and infection . “
Since then, vaccination clinics have multiplied in Philadelphia. There are now rotating clinics run by the city in several neighborhoods, as well as pop-up clinics aimed at people from underprivileged environments or who occupy specific high-risk professions. This is in addition to pharmacies, community health posts and hospitals that receive and distribute doses.
