Coronavirus symptoms: COVID symptoms may appear in this order, a study found

Fever, a common symptom seen in both the original mutation and the most contagious variant in circulation today, fever is the first symptom that people report after contracting COVID-19.

According to previous studies that mapped the symptoms reported by patients with COVID in 2020, fever was the main symptom present in more than 76% of cases. The more recent mutation is also likely to give rise to more symptomatic cases, with fever increasingly being considered a sign of COVID.

Most cases have mild fever (ranging from 99 degrees Fahrenheit to 101 degrees Farhenheit) and remain for 3 or 4 days. If the fever persists for more than a week, or you do not experience any difference in symptoms, it can be a sign of serious complications associated with COVID.

Remember that fever can also be accompanied by chills, dullness and malaise associated with lasting fever.
