Coronavirus SC: 7-month-old South Carolina boy tested positive for COVID-19, family quarantined amid pandemic

ELGIN, SC – A 7-month-old boy in South Carolina tested positive for the new coronavirus.

A 40-degree fever recently took Emmett Doster to an emergency department in Elgin, SC. Emmett, who is from Kershaw County, tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, on Tuesday.

“He woke up from a nap with a fever, so we were going to play and see,” mother Courtney Doster told WACH. “But my mother tested positive for the virus too.”

The boy’s family, including a 4 and 2-year-old child, is quarantined. Courtney Doster said the other children showed no sign of the virus.

The Dosters posted their story on social media to spread awareness on Friday. The post has been shared more than 40,000 times.

“We are just friends at home now and we hope and pray that he doesn’t go through the worst,” said Courtney.
