The Oregon Health Authority announced 536 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, along with five new deaths, increasing the state’s number of coronavirus deaths to 2,154.
Meanwhile, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Oregon has dropped for the second consecutive week, reaching the state’s lowest numbers since late October. The state registered 3,453 cases in the week ending Sunday, February 14, marking a 15% drop from the previous week.
Although Oregon’s vaccination rate per day has returned to pre-winter storm levels, a new analysis from The Oregonian / OregonLive shows that the state ranks third last for the percentage of seniors it inoculated against COVID-19 out of 31 states with comparable data.

Umatilla County has a higher than expected case count due to about 1,400 late test results received on February 19, according to the Oregon health authority. The results of the delayed tests were from June to January.
Who died: The death of 2,150 COVID-19 is an 86-year-old man from Jackson County who tested positive on January 23 and died on February 7 at his home.
2,151 COVID-19 died of a 69-year-old man from Linn County, who tested positive on February 18 and died on February 18. The location of his death is being confirmed.

Each person who died had underlying health problems or state officials were working to determine whether the person had underlying health problems.
The prevalence of infections: On Saturday, the state recorded 365 new positive tests out of 10,728 tests carried out, which is equivalent to a positivity rate of 3.4%.
Who is in the hospital: The state reported that 163 Oregon residents with confirmed coronavirus infections were hospitalized on Saturday, 13 fewer than on Friday. Of these, 51 patients with coronavirus were in intensive care units, two more than on Friday.
Vaccines administered: Oregon administered 781,202 first and second doses of 924,575 received, which is about 84.5% of its supply. Oregon reported 25,602 new doses administered, which include 20,646 on Friday and the remainder of previous days.
Since it started: Oregon reported 152,711 confirmed or suspected infections and 2,154 deaths, among the lowest per capita numbers in the country. To date, the state has reported more than 3,476,515 test lab reports.
