Corners to end the season in tenth position in South Carolina

CONWAY, SC – The Coastal Carolina women’s soccer team will end its season on the road against No. 10 University of South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday, March 21, in Columbia, SC.

The Chanticleers enter the competition with an overall record of 7-7, after dropping to No. 5 Duke Blue Devils 6-0 in their last match on 17 March. Gamecocks are currently 8-3 after defeating the College of Charleston 3-0 to open the spring season on March 7.

CCU will continue to use a mixed line of veteran and novice players this spring season to give younger players a gaming experience. Freshmen who had significant field action against UNCW, College of Charleston and Duke included Ellie Wolski, Carleigh Frilles, Taylor Tolson, and Maria folgero as a sophomore Ky Hudson recorded all 270 minutes of action on goal.

South Carolina is led by Catherine Barry with 10 points from four goals and two assists, while Lauren Chang is the team’s second with two goals and three assists to seven points.

Defensively, Heather Hinz saw most of the action on goal for the Gamecocks and Taylor Fox, having won three games on goal. Hinz added 30 saves in the year with a 6-2 record and Fox added nine saves for a 2-1 record.
