The Chargers made one of the biggest splashes on the first day of the free agent trading period, when they agreed to a five-year deal with central Corey Linsley.

Improving the offensive line before the second season of defender Justin Herbert was a priority for the Chargers and they offered to make Linsley the highest-paid pivot in the league for him to participate in that effort. The money did not harm Linsley’s chances or the presence of the right Bryan Bulaga.

Bulaga and Linsley played together in Green Bay for six seasons and Linsley told SiriusXM NFL Radio that the tackle’s words helped convince him to join the Chargers.

“A lot of conversation with Bryan Bulaga today, just to understand the new team and everybody there”Said Linsley. “He only had positive things to say. . . His opinion is very important to me. For him to be able to answer for everyone – not even working with them, but just getting the first impression – it meant a lot to me ”.

Herbert was one of the people to obtain a positive criticism from Bulaga and Linsley noted the presence of other young “stallions” as an additional temptation to sign with the team.
