It is a feature first introduced in robovacs from companies like I steal and Shark, but LG has just unveiled a wireless vacuum cleaner with a charging station that automatically empties the vacuum cleaner’s trash whenever it’s docked, giving you one less excuse to deal with all the chip crumbs that fall to the floor during your daily attempts to get up off the couch.

Despite a robust name, the new cordless vacuum cleaner LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor + is yet another lightweight cordless vacuum that makes cleaning on-site and occasional spillage less laborious, but even with two replaceable batteries included, you probably won’t be able to cleaning the floor of an entire house with a single pass. It’s the only alternative to going wireless, but at least LG is now offering a consolation prize.

The docking station of the vacuum cleaner should make it easier to load the LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor + without the need to pick up a cable, but when attached, the holder sucks all the dirt and debris from the vacuum cleaner’s garbage can for you: a convenience for anyone that handles a cloud of dust that escapes by emptying Dyson’s cordless vacuum cleaners you will appreciate. Dirt is collected in a larger dust bag that must be emptied sporadically or completely replaced – LG has not specified whether the system needs a constant supply of new bags.

What is certain, however, is that the docking station is not exactly miniscule and, despite the marketing materials, you probably don’t want it exposed to everyone in your living room. In addition to the dust collection system, it also stores a lot of extra cleaning nozzles and accessories for the cordless vacuum cleaner, so they don’t end up disappearing into a closet or utility drawer. The LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor + can also make your floors shine, as it has a built-in water tank and a replaceable Power Mop accessory with a pair of swivel microfiber pads that can be used to scrub wooden floors.

When it comes to vacuum cleaners, the LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor + offers more features and functionality than any other competitor, but that’s probably why LG has not yet revealed pricing details. With the charging station, extra battery and cleaning features, this vacuum cleaner will probably come with a price tag of up to a thousand dollars, but can you really put a price on not having to empty a tiny dust collector every day?
