The Tennessee nurse, who was famous for passing out on camera after receiving her COVID-19 vaccine in December, did not die – but try to tell legions of skeptics on social media.
Condolences poured in from around the world in mourning for the death of the 30-year-old mother of two Tiffany Dover – although she is alive and well, a fact that her family and the Chattanooga hospital have repeated publicly, though not with much luck.
The culprits behind the persistent disinformation campaign appear to be antivaxxers and conspiracy theorists in general.
“I’m honestly disgusted with people now,” Dover’s sister-in-law recently wrote on Instagram, according to the Daily Beast. “TIFFANY IS ALIVE AND WELL. ”
But that did not stop some unbelievers from meditating that pictures showing the part of Dover’s hair in different places can somehow prove that she is dead.
One person who doubted even opened a Facebook page titled, “Where’s Tiffany Dover?” It currently has 5,400 members.
“This group is just to get confirmation that Tiffany Dover is safe. Everything we ask for is concrete proof that she is alive and well, ”says the page.
Dover passed out on camera in mid-December after receiving a picture of Pfizer on his arm as part of a pro-COVID-19 immunization effort at CHI Memorial Hospital.
The nurse later told local TV that it is not uncommon for her to pass out when she is in pain.
Still, rumors that she died reached the point where her hospital was forced to publicly try to put them to bed – twice.
She tweeted on December 18 that she was “at home and well,” said the Daily Beast, and three days later, video released of the nurse at the hospital with other staff holding placards with the date of the day.
A Chattanooga Police Department representative told the Daily Beast that its own social media sites have been peppered with requests asking whether the agency is investigating whether Dover is dead.
“The police department is not involved in this because there is no crime, no death, nothing,” said the spokeswoman.
