WASHINGTON – Prosecutors filed charges of conspiracy related to the mob that invaded the United States Capitol on January 6, saying in a new complaint that three protesters acted “in an organized and practiced manner” and at one point appeared to suggest the possibility of killing lawmakers with gas in the tunnels below the building.
A search of the home of one of the three people also revealed instructions for making bleach explosives, according to the deposition filed in support of the complaint.
The three were reportedly part of a group that approached the east side of the Capitol and tried to make their way through a set of central doors between the House and Senate wings as a separate crowd of pro-Trump supporters struggled against a thin line of police officers at the west entrance during the riot. The complaint is among the first to accuse several alleged members of the conspiracy mafia in connection with the January 6 events.
About 8 to 10 people wearing helmets, reinforced vests and clothes with paraphernalia that identify themselves as members of the right-wing militia group Oath Keepers moved tactically and forced their way to the front of the crowd, shows a video quoted in the complaint.
During the breach, one of the members reportedly reported: “We have a good group. We have about 30-40 of us. We are staying together and following the plan ”, said the new complaint.
