Connecticut pasta factory worker has his arm stuck in the machine and suffers ‘serious injuries’

A factory worker in Connecticut was rescued from an industrial dough roller machine on Monday morning.

The worker, whose identity has not been revealed, had his arm stuck in the machine, according to a media release released by the South Windsor Fire Department on Facebook.

Emergency services were reportedly called to Carla’s pasta factory at 50 Talbot Lane, just before 3:30 am EST. The SWFD sent a car, two engines and a rescue team in response to the accident.

The worker’s arm was “entangled and impaled”, and the area where the machine was located was described as “tight” and is “above and below the conveyor belts and the rails”, according to the press release.

The machine could not be disassembled. Attempts to cut it were also “hampered” by its stainless steel construction.

“The machine was a funnel-type device at the top of a roller machine, which had a worm in the middle and an outlet and roller groove at the bottom,” explained the SWFD press release. “Patients [sic] position was at the top of the hopper. “

The machine’s hopper was eventually cut and raised with rope and levers, which gave emergency personnel access to the worker’s arm. The SWFD noted that the rescued worker “suffered serious injuries”.

Representatives from Carla’s Pasta and the South Windsor Public Works Department did not immediately respond to Fox News’s request for comment.

Local affiliate FOX 61 reported that the worker was flown to Hartford Hospital by Life Star. The factory remained open and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be conducting an investigation where the accident occurred.

The SWFD has assigned East Hartford and Broad Brook firefighters to provide extra equipment and labor for the rescue, along with the South Windsor Police Department and the Manchester Ambulance Service.
